Getting help
Synthwave Racer runs on Apple Vision Pro with visionOS 26 or later, and on iPhone with iOS 26 or later. On Vision Pro you steer with your hands; on iPhone you use touch controls or tilt. A paired game controller works on both. Most questions are answered below. If yours isn't, write to us and include your device, its software version, and what happened just before the problem.
Email us at this address. We usually reply within two business days.
Listen
The music
All 46 songs in Synthwave Racer are by Madison Charlton, who releases their music as Matti Charlton. In the game, Listen on Apple Music on the Music page and in the pause menu opens the song that's playing, and a billboard beside the track shows its title and cover.
Questions
Common questions
How do I steer?
Apple Vision Pro: hold your hands out in front of you as if on a wheel and tilt them to steer. With Speed Assist on (the default) the craft handles thrust: pinch with your left hand to brake and with your right hand to use an item. Touch your right thumb to your middle finger to jump, and your left thumb to your middle finger to switch between the cockpit and the chase view. Ring-finger pinches look behind you (right) and sound your horn (left). With Speed Assist off, pinch right for thrust and pinch left to brake; your left middle finger jumps, your left ring finger uses an item, your right middle finger switches the view and your right ring finger looks behind you. If you'd rather not use hand tracking, choose Pinch & Drag in Settings: pinch and slide your hand to steer.
iPhone: put your left thumb anywhere on the left half of the screen and slide to steer, hold Brake on the right to slow down, and tap Jump to clear ramps and gaps. Hold the look-back button to see behind you, and tap Switch view to change between the cockpit and the chase view. In Settings you can switch to a throttle you hold yourself, or to tilt steering, where you turn the iPhone like a wheel. Settings also changes how see-through the controls are and swaps them for left-handed play.
Game controller: left stick steers, right trigger is thrust, left trigger brakes, A uses your item, B jumps, Y switches the view, X looks behind you, clicking the right stick sounds your horn, and Menu pauses.
I flew off the track. What happened?
Where a stretch of road has no barrier, the edge is real. If you drive or jump off it, you drop, the view dims, and you're put back on the road a moment later. You lose a little time but stay in the race.
Can I turn down the engine or the driver voices?
Yes. In Settings, under Sound, the music, the engine, the race effects and the driver voices each have their own switch and level.
I feel uncomfortable during races.
On Vision Pro, open Settings in the game and raise Comfort. That darkens the edges of your view in fast turns. You can also turn on the steering wheel guide, lower the race speed class, or switch to the chase view, which some people find steadier. Stop playing and take a break if you feel unwell.
How do online races and leaderboards work?
Online play and leaderboards use Apple Game Center. Sign in to Game Center in the Settings app on your Vision Pro or iPhone. Your best times on each of the 18 circuits go to that circuit's leaderboard, and online races match you with other players through Game Center.
I bought Synthwave Racer Pro. How do I get it back on a new device?
Open the Artist page or Settings in the game and choose Restore Purchases. Use the same Apple Account you bought it with.
What are the tips?
Tips are optional in-app purchases that support Madison Charlton's music and art. They don't unlock anything, and the game plays the same whether you tip or not. Payments are handled by Apple. To ask for a refund, use Apple's Report a Problem page.
Can I play my own music?
Yes. On the Music page choose Import your music and pick audio files. Imported songs stay on your device. The built-in soundtrack is Madison Charlton's own catalogue. On the same page you can shuffle everything, play only the soundtrack or only your own music, or pick the song a race starts with. Otherwise each circuit opens with its own theme song.
